Notes From The Library
Do you have a quilting book you want to donate? Or is there a book you want to recommend our librarian purchase to add to our collection? If so, contact our librarians, Jane Houser at jhouser150@aol.com or Kim Burroughs at kburroughs@brccpa.com. Search FPQG's library collection from our 2008 catalogue listing by author or title.

Name Tag Drawing
The Guild encourages each member to make a quilted name tag based on our "house" logo and to wear it to the meeting each month. This helps others know who you are and learn your name. Before each meeting, everyone wearing a nametag enters their name in a drawing for items donated by the Guild or local retailers.

Quilting Resources
Go to our Quilting Resources web page for links to other quilting and guild promoting sites, information on the conservation and preservation of quilts, quilting tips and history, and sites recommended by our guild members.

LONGARM QUILTERS
"Members of Forsyth Piecers & Quilters Guild, Inc."

Longarm Quilters offer their services either by square inch, square foot, or square yard.

Formula:
Square inch is the width X the length = square inch
Square foot is the width X the length divided by 144 = square foot
Square yard is the width X the length divided by 1296 = square yard

Quilt Top:
Make sure that your top is square and lies flat. Wavy borders will cause pleating when quilting. Measure the center of the quilt for width and length. This is the measurement the borders should be. Do this for each border added. Ease in differences in lengths. Clip all threads and press well.

Backing:
Your back should be 4 inches longer and wider on all sides. It also needs to be square with no uneven edges. Press well. Remove all selvages before sewing your back together.

Thread Color:
Consider what thread color you want on your top as usually it needs to be be the same color on the back. Choose a backing with that in mind. Do you want a light thread on a dark back?

Finally:
Do not pin or baste your quilt before bringing it to a longarm quilter.
