2010-2011 School Year Nap Blanket Delivery
Oct 2010 - Dale reported that this year the Nap Blanket Project was a great success, having delivered a total of 400 nap blankets to three
schools. Her new goal is to try to deliver to all of the Title 1 students in the county for next year. This would require
additional assistance and participant from all our members. She has now set up a workshop for every third Saturday of
each month at St. Timothy's Church. Let's all try to participate and help in this major need.

2009-2010 School Year Nap Blanket Delivery
At the September 2009 meeting, Gale showed us some of the Nap Blankets that had been turned
in. There were 71 blankets in total. It was officially decided (by the entire membership) that
this project would be on-going. Members would have a whole year to make the blankets for
delivery at the start of a new year each fall.
Our first delivery day: It was a great morning at Kimberly Park Elementary. We displayed
all the nap blankets around the library before the children arrived. When all the kindergarten
students were seated, we told them that we had a supprise for them.
We explained that while they we enjoying their summer vacation, many women were busy
sewing a nap blanket just for them. In order to get a blanket they would need to do 2
things...1) do their very best in school every day, and 2) stay in school so they could
graduate from high school in 2023. They all agreed to do those 2 things. In small groups
they toured the blanket display and made their decision about which blanket they wanted to
select. As you can see from the smiling faces they were all very happy and said "thank
you" many, many times.
Here are some of the photos at the delivery of the quilts along with their precious
receivers.
